England confirm how they plan to replace Gareth Southgate

Gareth Southgate’s replacement will be named by England “as soon as possible,” according to FA CEO Mark Bullingham.
Less than 48 hours after the Three Lions’ most recent loss in the Euro 2024 Championship to Spain, Southgate announced his resignation as England’s head coach on Tuesday morning. He had initially been hired temporarily in September 2016.

The 53-year-old also guided England to the 2018 World Cup quarterfinals, where they were eliminated by France, and to the final of Euro 2020, where they were defeated by Italy at home.
In an emotional parting message, Southgate said, “It has been the honor of my life to play for England and to coach England.” Bullingham, the chief executive of the FA, acknowledged that there was a great deal of pleasure in all that had been accomplished during his eight years in office.

Additionally, he disclosed that England has commenced the process of selecting a Southgate replacement, detailing the planned schedule and backup plan in case things take a bit longer than anticipated.
Bullingham stated: “We hope to confirm our new manager as soon as possible. The process of appointing Gareth’s successor is now underway.” “We have a temporary solution in place in case it becomes necessary, and our UEFA Nations League campaign will start in September.” We anticipate that there will inevitably be rumors, but until we are established, we won’t address them further.

He went on, “Gareth has created a solid platform for future success and accomplished an impossible task. The players, the backroom staff, the FA, and the football community all hold him in the highest regard. We are quite pleased.” “We are eternally grateful to Gareth and Steve for everything they have accomplished for England.”

The front-runners for the position include Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, and Under-21s manager Lee Carsley. German coaches Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp, who are both unemployed after leaving Bayern Munich and Liverpool, respectively, have also been mentioned in reports.
