Man Utd ‘reject early bids’ for Scott McTominay as interested club confirm talks
Galatasaray is reportedly keen to sign Scott McTominay, although there have been many bids for the player rejected by Manchester United this summer.
West Ham United showed interest in McTominay last year, but a deal was not finalized. He went on to play a significant part in the Red Devils’ 2023–24 campaign, scoring 10 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions.
Outside of United, people have taken notice of that form, and according to the Manchester Evening News, the team has rejected multiple bids for McTominay in recent weeks.
McTominay, a native talent, is still highly valued by United. His contract has one year left on it, but the club has the option to extend it by an additional twelve months.
The trade fell through when West Ham offered £30 million for the Scotland international last year, and United countered with a request for £40 million. It is unlikely that any of McTominay’s current suitors will be able to meet his price tag if that continues.
Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu has acknowledged that the defending Turkish champions are in negotiations with United regarding a deal for McTominay. They are also considering Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of Tottenham Hotspur and Guela Doue of Rennes, but they have no interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
“We’re talking about McTominay’s transfer fee,” Hatipoglu informed Haber Sari Kirmizi. “Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a good player, he has many suitors, and he wants to see all options.”Single-digit transfer fees for midfield and right back are not being discussed. However, we only have less than €10 million set aside for right backs.
“Guela Doue is not in a precarious situation. For McTominay and Doue, negotiations are still in progress. Our focus is not on Wan-Bissaka.”
Following Scotland’s Euro 2024 campaign, McTominay is presently on vacation. Soon, in preparation for the 2024–2025 season, he will return for preseason training.
