Man Utd target ‘not motivated’ by prospect of £53m move
Despite Lille’s acceptance of their £53 million offer for the defender, reports in France state that Lenny Euro is still unfazed by the idea of joining Manchester United.
The 18-year-old’s stellar 2023–24 season in northern France has made him one of Europe’s most sought-after prospects.
Although several potential suitors have been driven away by Lille’s asking price of approximately £50 million, United had a bid exceeding that amount accepted last week.
However, Euros is still holding out for a move to Real Madrid, who have so far been unwilling to match Lille’s value — their biggest bid to date has been worth roughly £17 million — so the L’Equipe claim hasn’t persuaded him to fly to Old Trafford.
Real Madrid feels that Euros might have a career comparable to Raphael Varane’s, but they don’t want to give him a high price because his deal expires in the summer. After Cristiano Ronaldo left Los Blancos in 2018, Los Blancos no longer had a strong connection with Jorge Mendes, the agent for Euro.
L’Equipe reports that PSG is thinking about going to the Euros in addition to United and Real Madrid, knowing full well that the player is hesitant to travel to England and that the European champions are reluctant to play this summer. However, Mendes is currently at odds with Paris Saint-Germain, just like he is with Real Madrid.
Given that Lille has barred him from competing in the Olympics this summer and that they are not preparing for the 2024–25 season with the Europeans in mind, he may find it easier to arrange a transfer. According to people close to the Euro camp, the player fears Lille will make him transfer to a team he may not want to play for.
