Riccardo Calafiori’s message to Chelsea about Arsenal transfer – report
According to a respected Italian journalist, Riccardo Calafiore told Chelsea that he is only interested in joining Arsenal this summer.
The 22-year-old garnered a lot of attention as Bologna advanced to the Champions League after the previous year, and he was possibly Italy’s greatest player during their run to the round of 16 at the 2024 European Championship.
Not surprisingly, Calafiore’s transfer from Bologna to more affluent clubs has been strongly associated with him. Although it was long thought that he would sign with Juventus, he now appears more likely to sign with Arsenal.
In addition, Chelsea kept an eye on Calafiore as a potential left-back before deciding on Basel’s adaptable star Renato Vega, who ironically replaced the Italian for the Swiss team the previous season.
Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sports Italia disclosed that Calafiore had discussed a summer transfer to Stamford Bridge with Chelsea, but he made it plain to them that he was more interested in going to Arsenal.
Calafiore believes the Gunners, as do his representatives, are the ideal next step in his career. For two straight seasons, Arsenal finished second in the English Premier League standings, twice forcing Manchester City to the verge of a championship match. After returning to the Champions League last season after a six-year hiatus, they will also be among the favorites to win the league next year.
There is a sense that Arsenal and Bologna will eventually reach an agreement on a move, even though the two teams have not yet agreed on a price. For now, Bologna is refusing to budge from their demands of £42 million, bonuses, and a sell-on clause.
After Euro 2024 in Italy, Calafiore is presently on vacation, and Arsenal’s first team is starting its preseason liquidation.
